Single digit numbers 1 to 9 = 9 strokes
Two digit numebrs 10-99 = 90x2 = 180 strokes
Three digit numbers 100-999 = 900x3 = 2700 strokes
Four digit numbers 1000 = 1x4 = 4 strokes

Hence total number of strokes = 2893
