Kellogg essays

Hi,

I wish to apply to Kellogg for their 2Y program. The second essay question asks applicants to describe some leadership experiences and evaluate the leadership areas they wish to develop through the program. I had two questions with respect to this question:

1) Does there have to be a connection between the experiences spoken about and the areas I wish to develop through the MBA? and

2) Do these experiences have to be professional experiences? On a personal front, I lost my father early on and actually led my family (mother and sister) from then on. Can I talk about this experience?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. You can certainly cite personal examples in your response, however, it is important to remember to focus on the leadership skills and not on the situation. I suggest you take a look at Clear Admit's essay topic analysis for some great suggestions on how to tackle this essay: https://blog.clearadmit.com/2009/06/kell ... 009-2010/.

Best,

Stacey
