As a result of a new technique that combines light from two powerful telescopes, astronomers have recently identified the torus at the center of the active galactic nucleus NGC 1068 as a warm compact structure composed of dust and gas and measuring several light-years across.

i will go with
D ,
we need to parallel identified with measured while referring back to the torus.
One more vote for A. Since the discovery is still valid and the rest of the sentence uses present tense, you eliminate C and D. Eliminate E since it adds the verb 'is' which makes the sentence incorrect. Down to A and B, I'd go with A, since it defines a characteristic that still continues. This is very similar to one of the OG12 questions I believe. The one about fungus and root tentacles, with answer choices containing the word 'extend' instead of 'measure'.

Not a very good job done here in copying the question (by Kaplan), exact same answer choices too.

What's the OA?
Being defeated is often only a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.

Clearly A. Do you have a specific doubt in this question?
