Except for one class in history and one class in biology, all the student's graduation requirements have been fulfilled.
A
B Except for needing to take once class in history and one in biology, the student has fulfilled all of his requirements for graduation.
C The student has fulfilled all of his graduation requirements except for one class in history and one in biology.
D Except for one history class and one biology class, the student has fulfilled all of his graduation requirements.
E Aside from the history class and biology class that he needs to take, teh student's graduation requirements have all been fulfilled.

IMO it is C it has idiom except X and Y where X and Y are parallel

I also selected C, but the OA is D. I couldn't able to figure out how latter is better than former.

Explanation in Kaplan is not very convincing.

I chose C too... now looking back maybe D is better? haha

only diff between C and D is the order of the clauses, and one uses "history class and biology class" whereas the other uses "class in history and class in biology". In terms of succinctiveness, maybe history class is preferred to class in history? that's the only explanation I can come up with.

While I selected C because I thought C is more concise as it avoids using 'class' again.

hehe, now thinking back, I never used the sentence "I have a class in bio" or "I have a class in gym". You could be referring to the class, OR you could be referring to the classroom... so "bio class" is more clear in terms of meanings. man, this is a tough one :)
