Kaplan Quiz Bank or OG for last 2.5 weeks of prep?

Expert replies

Hi,
My test date is 2.5 weeks away. I have access to Kaplan's Quiz Bank which lets me make customized quizzes. What I like about Kaplan's Quiz Bank is that I can make a quiz of 37 questions and it times me for 74 minutes - this forces me to do questions in that time frame and on-screen which is the format of the real test

I am wondering if in last 2.5 weeks I should continue using Quiz Bank or focus only on Official Guide material?

On Manhattan CAT #2, I scored 640 (Q42, V33) and I heard that OG questions only go up to 650 level difficulty. So even if I spend lots of time on OG, will I really improve from where I am right now?

Is it even true that OG only goes upto 650 level?

Please help!

Thanks

I don't know how one could quantify what difficult level the OG goes up to. From my experience, I would recommend using the OG questions if you haven't gone through them. I think there is value in getting used to how the test makers construct questions. This will make the test day experience more comfortable.

I couldn't agree more. STUDY THE OG. Also, I think there are some hard questions in the OG. What most people don't realize is how the GMAT makes difficult questions. Most people think hard questions have to have a lot of steps, but this is not the case. A question is considered hard if lots of people who are high scorers get it wrong. Therefore, a question might only have two very difficult to see steps. These are the types of hard questions you get from the OG- not too difficult to answer if you really understand the question and the approach to solve it.
