Doesn't C change the meaning of the sentence somewhat by adding in "occurrence?"

I don't know about that and couples. Expert?

What's the source of the question?

That refers to immediate preceeding noun .. and who refers to people... I'm also getting confused with the usage here ...
"Native of" is used for a individual while "Native to" is used for a large group

IMO
in sentence like x of y who/that verb; we can check from the verb to what that or who is reffering

in this case since the verb is were so that has to refer couples .

Pls correct me if i am wrong
It does not matter how many times you get knocked down , but how many times you get up

Exactly..Can "That" be correct...Rest of the sentence seems Ok (Past perfect...two past actions)....

Confused between B and D....

Other 3 are obvious errors...

2, 4 , and 5 have clear mistakes. 4 hsa "had", unnecessay. 5 has "study's" unnecessary 's. forgot what was wrong with 2.

Anyways, the question tests the difference usage of "who" vs "that". "who" always used with people on ONLY, "that" with everything else.

"Couples" sound like people, but aren't; they're groups or collections, and therefore correctly take "that," not "who."
