Hii... If anyone's got the Kaplan Premier, Kindly help me out with the 5th Question of SC.
the correct option says 'D'... however, im not fully convinced.. since 'its' on the option 'D' refers to ' public's ' which is in the possessive form.. how then could it be correct?? How could a pronoun refer to a possive??
Am I missing out something here.. Plz help...

Sure Vineesh.. I thought we shouldn't be posting copyrighted matter..
Here Goes:
The public's widespread belief in the existence of UFO's and their general curiosity about extraterrestrial life has generated considerable interest in science fiction.

A) UFO's and their general curiosity about extraterrestrial life has
B) UFO's and they are generally curious about extraterrestrial life which has
C) UFO's, as well as their general curiosity about extraterrestrial life, have
D) UFO's, as well as its general curiosity about extraterrestrial life, has
E) UFO's as well as general curiosity about extraterrestrial life, have

Although I agree with all other errors like the subject-verb agreement etc.. D is correct, but im just not sure if I could refer to the possesive form-- 'public's'... with the pronoun 'its'???

It is not the "public's" it's refers, but rather "public's belief" which is singular and is noun.

I thought that as first but ruled that out.. since it is says- "as well as its general curiosity"... but how can a 'belief' be curious?? only the public could be curious so to say..

It's is a possessive pronoun which refers to Public's here.
You are right . whats the issue here.It seems as if you got it right.
it's curiosity=Public's curiosity
I Seek Explanations Not Answers
