I took one this morning. 3 passages, 18 qns. and only 25 min! Is something like this even doabale? I could barely make it to 11, before I found I had just 3 min on the clock, rushed through the next 4 (got 3 worng) and finished woth 3 no attempts!

Is it just me who couldn't finish it on time?

It's okay to feel overwhelmed with the pacing when you're just starting out your prep--but don't get too hung up about it. Pacing can be developed with lots of practice. Check out the pacing posts by searching the archives in this forum, or by perusing the resources tab. You'll find some good tips to help you!

I have to echo Nick_mask on this one. Talk about a blow to one's confidence! The Kaplan practice tests (not the practice GMAT) really took the wind out of my sails. Not only are they exceptionally fast paced, but I only averaged slightly over 50% correct on the problem solving 1-4 and DS 1&2 tests. I did not finish any of them. I think that after months of studying, I should have done much better. Adding salt to my wounds, I scored less than 50% on the DS practice test in the Kaplan 2011 book. Geesh.... maybe I should look more towards pushing a broom at B-school than actually attending!

Kaplan CD, the PS I finished with 8 correct out of 12 in a very relaxed manner, drinking tea ;) It's the cumbersome solution for word problems which makes one to match answer choices A-E accurately. I must say Kaplan PS worth only it's pacing for it has very easy problems in its CAT mode after the series of questions 25-27... (quantitative)
