kaplan paper gmat test

can anyone tell me if the kaplan premier program test in the book is a good indicator of expected performance on the actual gmat? it was difficult for me to really scope out the "tough" questions on this test so i am unsure of what could happen when the actual test day arrives on may 15! thanks!

paper tests are crap but for actually seeing the question and answers etc laid out in paper infront of you. Kaplans tests are generally underscored. The reason why CAT's are sooo much better is because its more realistic and you would get a lot more useful practice out of them.

so for all i know i could be doing extremely bad but kaplan is making my score on paper look good?

Only do the paper tests as a pool of practice problems. Don't use them to predict possible GMAT performance.
Kaplan CAT tests will underscore your result - i.e. if you score a 600 on Kaplan you would probably score higher on the GMAT.

what wgrau said.

Use CATS. Kaplan underscores your marks arguably upto 100 points. MGMAT gets close most say around 30-40 off. etc
the Official one is obviously the most accurate but you have to practice a lot eitherway.
