Just curious...how are the Kaplan prep books regarded on here? I have been using it for the past week to brush-up on my math and I swear I have seen more errors in that book than any other book. Almost seems like they decided to skip the editing department and just get it out. Is this normal? I have checked the errors over and over again and it seems like they are truly errors-not good for helping to prep somebody for a big test like the GMAT.

I was happy to take the Kaplan practice GMAT for the very first time and score 89% in the verbal area without having touched any prep materials...math wasn't so good however :shock: Been reviewing math and taking practice #2 tomorrow (using Manhattan I think).

The Kaplan books are well regarded in this forum, in general. What errors have you found? I'm sure that the Kaplan representatives in this community would be interested in re-examining these questions to make sure that they are sound...

They have all been in the Chapter 8 practice problems at the end of each section. I will have to get specifics when I get home but I think one of them was as blatant as misusing a number from problem to solution. (i.e. it said 2x-17 = 8 and the solution solved for 3x-17 = 8, don't go looking for this-those are made up numbers until I can get to my book at home!)

It is frustrating that I have found so many errors on a book that is meant to improve your score...

I personally am not a fan of Kaplan. Verbal is not much like the real thing at all, and the scoring algorithm is way off. I would do other tests.

It seems like GMAT prep is the way to go for accuracy. I took Manhattan yesterday and was freaked out at the low score I got there. I scored lower with it than I do on Kaplan but I am thinking my all day study session before-hand may have burnt me out.
