Not only do deep-sea divers risk nitrogen nacrosis , often called "raptures of the deep", if they descend below 200 feet,but they also fall prey to decompression sickness, commonly known as "the bends," if they ascend too quickly.
a) same as original
b)Deep sea divers risk nacrosis, often called "raptures of the deep" , if they descend below 200 feet, but
c) Nitrogen nacrosis , often called "raptures of the deep," is risked by deep sea divers if they descend below 200 feet,in addition to

ok,

E : Subject on both sides is not parallel,------ "they" refer to what ..

the non- underlined part "but they also fall prey".. who fall prey... Deep-sea divers..
but E talks about single diver ..so wrong.

D: As "and" is used , both side of the AND must be parallel.Gerund is used..The descending of ..which is not parallel with other side of AND ...they also fall.

C: Passive: and more over ,I think both side of "in addition to " must be parallel.

Here you need the IDIOM: Not only X but also Y.

So only option A and E left with you.

Rule out option (E) because DRIVER is singular whereas THEY is plural.

Hence choose (A).
