Jemma takes 2 hours to swim the 4 miles from buoy A to buoy B. Tired from her swim, she then continues to buoy C at half her previous speed. If buoy C is 6 miles away from buoy B, how many more hours will pass before Jemma reaches Buoy C?

Given the information, Jemma's speed from A to B = 4/2 = 2 mph;

thus, her speed from B to C = 1/2 of 2 = 1mph

Time taken to reach C from B = 6*1 = 6 hours

The correct answer: C

Solution:

Jemma’s initial speed, from A to B, is 2 mph. Her speed from B to C is 1 mph, so it takes her 6 hours to swim to buoy C.
