Solution:

The surface area of the column is 2π x 3^2 + 2π x 3 x 14 = 18π + 84π = 102π. Therefore, Jane needs 102π/10π = 10.2 buckets of paint. However, since she can’t buy a partial bucket of paint, she must buy 11 buckets of paint to paint the column (including the top and bottom).
