If Jane was beaten by 0.25 m, then Jane covered 99.75m in the time that Karen took to cover 95m (since Karen had a 5m headstart).
Jane gained 4.75 m over karen in 99.75 m.
Therefore, Jane would have gained 1m over Karen in (99.75/4.75) = 21 m.

Therefore, Jane would have covered the remaining 0.25m over Karen in 21*0.25=5.25m.
