It is a special feature of cell aggregation in the developing nervous system that in most regions of the brain the cells not only adhere to one another and also adopt some preferential orientation.

A . to one another and also adopt
B . one to the other, and also they adopt
C . one to the other, but also adopting
D . to one another but also adopt
E . to each other, also adopting

Ans D...

Option D gives the parallel sequence ... not only adhere... but also adopt.....

A B C are incorrect as Not only ---but also is not used properly.
to is missing in C
D is the correct Ans

What is the confusion or doubt u have in this one... D is a pretty straighforward for this one..
