Statement 1: consider the following cases,
  • x = 2, y = 1, z = 3 ---> Median is x --> NO
    x = 2, y = 4, z = 3 ---> Median is z --> YES
Not sufficient

Statement 2: As y is equal to z, the three numbers are z, z, and x.
Hence, whether x is greater than or less than or equal to z, the median of these three numbers is z.

Sufficient

The correct answer is B.
