The OA is the option B .
Why is the statement (1) not sufficient? Experts, can you give me an example? Please.
If x is positive, then x > y; however, if x is negative, then x < y. Insufficient.
Case 1: x = 2 and y = 1, then x > y, and 2^2 > 1 => 4 > 1. The answer is Yes.
Case 2: x = -2 and y = 1, then x < y, and (-2)^2 > 1 => 4 > 1. The answer is No.
(2) x - |y| > 0
x > |y|
Since |y| is positive, x is positive. Whether y is negative or positive, x > y. Sufficient.
The correct answer: B
Hope this helps!
