Is X<Y

by sjd00d » Sun Jan 25, 2009 3:28 pm
if X>1 and Y>1, is X<Y?
(1) X^2/(XY+X)<1
(2) XY/Y^2-Y<1

This problem has probably been discussed a ton times here and elsewhere but unfortunately the searches didn't give me any results (possibly due to the "<" sign not being escaped) and thus posting it again.

OA is E (according to set 25, Q 29)

but i strongly feel B

upon re-reading my post, i realized that my OA was based on the assumption that the denominator in B had brackets around, and that was wrong. If no brackets that OA is the correct answer. My bad!!
