Hello,
Can you please tell me if my algebraic approach is correct:
Is x > 4?
1.|x| > 5
2. x > -5
1) |x| > 5
=> x = 6 or x = -6 In-suff.
2) x > -5
=> x = 6 or x = -4 In-suff.
1 and 2: => x has to be 6, 7, 8, ...
Hence, suff.
I was wondering if this can be solved as follows when we combine 1 and 2:
|x| > 5 and x > -5
=> + or - x > 5 and x > -5
=> x > 5 or -x > 5 and x > -5
=> x > 5 or x < -5 and x > -5
=> x > 5
Is this also correct?
Thanks a lot,
Sri
