To address essay topics such as
1) One thing people might not know about you
2) Describe a time you took responsibility to achieve an objective

I took an initiative to get into better shape, thru exercising and healthy diet I was able to lose 40-45 lbs in less than a year and have kept the weight off for a year and half

Is this an appropriate topic? I figure adcom gets bored reading all those business strategy/decision essays :)

Dear jzdchou,

This is an interesting question because I do think it is a little bit of a risk. It could be refreshing, and if written right, demonstrate your motivation and commitment towards a goal. In that sense, it could be an advantage for you. On the other hand, the reader might see the example as more trivial and wonder if you took the question seriously. I don't think your weight loss is trivial as it does take hard work and commitment, but you just don't know how the reader will react. I guess you just have to decide if you are willing to take that risk.

Good luck,
Lisa
