Hi,

I am not a native English speaker, but I went to an English speaking undergraduate university. So I was releived to find out that HBS, Wharton, INSEAD, MIT Sloan all waived TOEFL if you have done so. But I just came across a brickwall as I found that Hass business school has no such waive off.

I am now thinking to actually take out HASS from my list because I really dont want to spend another $200 dollars and a day on TOEFL when I can use that time for my application essays and other things.

But my worry is that may be other schools (besides the ones I have checked) will also ask for a TOEFL. Is it a general requirement is many schools that you have to take TOEFL if you are not a native speaker ? (even if you went to an English speaking university.

I believe that the TOEFL is generally waived if you have a degree from a university where the instruction was in English, even if English is not your first language. However, you should check with each individual admissions office to be absolutely certain.

You should definitely check with each individual AdCom.

Quote from Berkeley's Admission site:
Applicants who received their degrees in countries other than the US, UK, Australia, or English-speaking Canada are required to take the TOEFL exam.

Thus, only students with degrees received in those countries would receive TOEFL waiver regardless of whether your university taught in English.
