I guess I am missing a simple logic; can someone help me on this pls? Thanks much.

1. What is the value of x?
(1) – (x + y) = x - y
(2) x + y = 2

OA - A

2. If a certain animated cartoon consists of a total of 17,280 frames on film, how many minutes will it take to run the cartoon?
(1) The cartoon runs without interruption at the rate of 24 frames per second.
(2) It takes 6 times as long to run the cartoon as it takes to rewind the film, and it takes a total of 14 minutes to do both.

(2) x + y = 2

OA - A

Statement (1) - (x - y) = x - y
-x -y = x - y
2x = 0
x = 0

OA-D

(1) The cartoon runs without interruption at the rate of 24 frames per second.

17280/24 = 720

So it takes 720 Seconds or 12 Minutes

Suff

(2) It takes 6 times as long to run the cartoon as it takes to rewind the film, and it takes a total of 14 minutes to do both.

Time to rewind = x
Time to run = 6x

x + 6x = 14
7x = 14
x= 2

So 2 minutes to rewind.

2x6 =12 minutes to run

Suff

Statement (1)

24 frames in 1 sec

x (how many frames) in 60 seconds

Calculate x. We get 1440 frames.

To run 1440 frames it takes 1 minute. To run 17280 frames, calculate the time required. We get 12 minutes.

SUFF.

Statement (2)

Let x be the time taken to rewind. Hence 6x is the time taken to run.

x + 6x = 14. Calculate x. Calculate 6x. We get 12 mintes.

SUFF.
