Is passport mandatory to write GMAT in US for a non-citizen?

Hello Guys,

I am not sure if this is the right place for my question, but since most of the people who wrote GMAT recently lurk in this forum I am just posting it here.

I am a Indian Citizen, working in US on H1b Visa. Do I need to present my passport as proof of ID at the testing center or will a US State driving license or a State ID be sufficient? My passport was damaged and I am in process of getting a duplicate passport, but it is taking for ever.

I had a student from South America whose passport was lost and she was able to take the test. This is what she told me,
"I just checked the gmat page and for residents driver license and green card are accepted forms of id."

I believe that is one or the other so your driver's license should work.

It would still be a good idea to contact the center you plan to test at to make sure they will accept the drivers license, but you should be fine.

Actually I would verify with the GMAC. I have a friend who couldn't take her GMAT because she wasn't able to present her passport/greencard. Driver's license alone is insufficient.

You should confirm for sure....the student I mentioned was able to take it. Perhaps she had the green card as well?

I do believe passport or green card is necessary if you're a foreign national.

David & uwhusky, Thanks for your replies. I called GMAC and they told that if you are a foreign national you should present either Green card or Passport. Since I am on a Visa, I need to have my passport.
