Is p > 0 ?

If n and p are integers, is p > 0?

(1) n + 1 > 0
(2) np > 0

Answer should be C - both statements together are sufficient.

From what I can tell, (1) is not right on its own because n could be -2, for example, and the problem would not work. In (2), if n and p are both negative, the scenario could also work, but the two equations would then not work together. This is why I'm a bit confused about this one. I thought that E would be the answer.

Lets analyze both the statements again...
1) n + 1 > 0 -> n > -1, and as n is an integer value is n can be 0, 1, 2, 3, ...., this does not tell us anything about the value of p...
2) np > 0 tells us that both n & p are having same sign and both are non-zero. If any one of them was zero, the answer would be zero.

Combining both we can easily deduce that p > 0...
