Hi,

I am an Indian ,Male,30 yrs. I have a Bachelors in Management Studies from Bombay University and a Masters in Marketing Communications from an institute that is top ranked for the same in Asia. I finished in the top 10% in class at both undergraduate and masters level programmes.I have a GMAT score of 700 (Q49,V35). I have worked 2 years each at a Fortune 50 American medical devices company in key account management, a Fortune 10 Finnish mobile company in retail marketing and an Indian mid-size educational services company in brand management and sales strategy (total work-ex of 6 years). My transition from traditional industry to education was driven by my long term ambition of setting up an entrepreneurial venture in the K-12 space in India and my desire to fuel learning in that direction. I have been a top trivia quizzer and student government office holder throughout college and an active alum member of my alma mater. I am also a keen middle distance runner and long distance cyclist, hobbies that are very much lifestyles to me. My other passion is teaching slum kids as part of a non-formal education NGO-an activity that is again closely linked to my K-12 ambitions in a BoP context and one that weaves together some great personal stories.

Which 2 year U.S B-Schools and Europe 1 year programs can I realistically reach for in Fall 2012? I am particularly keen on Lauder, Tuck, Kellogg and INSEAD in that order.

Dear Vinnaray,

I think you have a shot at the 4 schools you note in your post with a strong, compelling application package. However, these are highly selective top 10 global programs, so you would be prudent to add 2-3 other schools that are not as selective to your list. I would encourage you to target programs which are a good match for your career goals and whose GMAT averages are at or below 690. For tips on identifying programs, please read our sticky on school selection.

Good luck,
Lisa
