Is my career goal unrealistic w.r.t. my gmat score??

Hello,

I've applied to the following schools so far

Duke - ding
Rotman - interviewed & dinged
Kelley - ding
Robert H. Smith - interviewed & dinged
Boston University - waitlisted w/o interview
NUS - awaited
Mays - awaited
Krannert - awaited

GMAT- 620(Q51, V23) , 670(Q49, V31) : TOEFL-108 : CGPA 8.2/10
Electrical Engineer from one of the top tier institutes in india (NITs)
3 years work ex in Hydrocarbon industry
Excellent extra-curriculars ( national level sports player and national level scholarship in sports)

In all these applications, I expressed my desire to get into strategic consulting post MBA. After getting so many dings, now I am beginning to wonder if my career goal is too ambitious in the eyes of adcom with regards to my profile (esp. my GMAT score). Do I need to change it to something in line with my current industry?

Please advise.

So if the framework is correct gmat shouldn't be a problem? I read somewhere that to get into consulting post mba, you need to have scored at least 700 in gmat. Is this true?

Your doors won't be completely closed. Could I be more difficult? Yes. And, you may not be able to look at some top firms...
