Is MBA the right option?

I have done my B.E in computer science and always wanted to do an MBA after that as I never really like to get into coding full time. But after an unsuccessful attempt at CAT I gave up, gave my MS in Computer Science from a top university and am working in a very good company as a developer. I have worked for 2 years as a developer and cannot see myself doing that for rest of my life and decided to give my GMAT and do my MBA finally to change my career path.
But am not sure how beneficial it would be in changing my career path?? I was thinking of doing a part time MBA. Would that really be beneficial? People say its not as useful as a full time MBA.
I have seen many of my friends who have done MBA and still stuck in the same coding job as me... And hence wondered if its really worth it??

Hi JazzB,

One of the important aspects of choosing to work for an MBA is in figuring out WHY you need one. What type of career path do you WANT to be on? Does it require an MBA? If so, then what type (and what school/program best fits THAT goal)? You ask some good questions, but only you have the answers. Write down some ideas and start researching the options. The information is out there to be had.

Rich is right. You need to answer the key question of why you feel you need an MBA. Do you want to move away from being a developer and go into consulting? Do you want to start your own company? Do you want to move into senior management? If you answered yes, an MBA would help you transition into those career paths.
