Is it a good time to apply?

I have been considering a career move for a little while now and was just wondering if this is a bad time to apply to an MBA program, considering what has been happening in the markets recently. In other words, how would all the wall street layoffs play out in the admissions process? Will it be harder to get a higher GMAT score (or get into an MBA program)because there may be a larger number of people taking the test?

Dear Tony,

With the current state, applications for business school are expected to increase this year. Thus you could argue competition will be stiffer as schools will not generally increase their class sizes at the same rate. As the number of GMAT test takers will also increase, the percentiles will fluctuate but it will not affect the raw scores (which is most important).

Should this delay your decision to apply? Only you can make that determination based on how you feel you measure up at your target schools.
