Hello Everyone,
Today is my first day of starting GMAT preparation. I know, this is not any ground breaking news, all you have passed through this day earlier, but for me it means a lot ....... Well let me be little truthful. I did once tried of preparing for GMAT. It was during the starting days of my job career ... 10 years back. Studied for 2 months with Baron's Guide, and ultimately lost the momentum.
Anyway, this time I am serious. .......... I know, you must be laughing again. Let me try to explain.
I am working in Information Technology for quite some time - a decade to make it sound dramatic. I always suffered from dilemma that I am not fueling or topping up my knowledge tank and thus loosing the competition. I was so daunted with that idea that I quit TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) which was then Asia's largest IT company and tried to venture out in pursuit of 2 goals.
The first goal is to test does my work expertise really worth the salary I am drawing or am I under the shadow of a big corporate house and my loopholes are getting covered up by TCS halo in the market.
The second goal was (and also is) my hunger for knowing more in business domain, something more than computer programing, testing and project handling of IT software. I joined Wells Fargo. It clicked. I worked there for 2 years; and I spent the my best days of my job career in Wells Fargo. December of 2008, I thought I need a role change in my job profile and also I had the interest of getting back to my family in Kolkata - so, I joined Lexmark.
During my days in Wells Fargo I took up MBA studies. I joined XLRI PGCBM (14 months Satellite Program). I should have finished that by now, but my job requires frequent overseas travel. So, I had to take 3 months break in between, and currently striving to complete the subjects I missed.
That was the juncture when I started realizing my knack for Business Management subjects. Studies in Consumer Behavior & Market Research, Product and Brand Management, Operational Research, Organizational Structure and Design, International Management are to name a few that sucked me in the program.
Raison d'etre of cracking GMAT is to get into some good business schools so that I can learn more. Well, salary hike is definitely a reason, but its more of icing on top the cake.
Anyway, let me now introduce myself. I am Aurobindo Saha, staying in Kolkata, India with my family. I currently work Lexmark International as Architecture and Strategy Professional. I take great interest in photography. Generally sell my photographs through PhotoIndia or Redbubble. Currently busy with XLRI PGCBM subjects, aiming for GMAT in Jan 2011. Keeping fingers crossed.
Glad to meet you all.

Morning Everyone,
I'm a newcomer to this forum "beat the gmat". I currently reside in Paris, France. I'm an Engineering graduate with 4yrs of experience.
I'm on the long grinding road to beat the Gmat! I registered yesterday and in less than 2 days I learnt a lot about the gmat and few things too, which hopefully will give me huge confidence. I also know that road to the promise land is fraught with difficulties but with the right strategy and a good plan we can overcome them. Thank you all.
