Hi Stancy,

I got Gmat score of 610 in 2nd attempt (Q-47 & V- 27) & earlier I scored 580 in Gmat.

I am a chartered accountant (CA) & have a work exp of 3 years post CA pass out & articleship (apprenticeship) period of 3 years. In sum total 6 years of work exp.

I am confused whether I can to apply Insead with 610 & my work exp. I am working in MNC as Deputy Mng. Finance... & has been awarded as best performer for the year 2008. Also I am pretty sure of getting excellent recommendations. Although I did not have international exp but I have worked/working for top MNCs in India.

Please advise me whether I shall apply to Insead for Jan2010 intake. Application deadline is 27th May. I have read in forums that minimum score required for Insead is 610.

Also I pratice a lot of stuff for retake of Gmat this time (Kaplan800, OG, Verbal & Quant reviews, Kaplan) but did not score upto my expectations. Are there any good chances for me in making to top 5 B Schools with my current background.

Dear darpan,

While I cannot say it is impossible for you to gain admission with a 610, I think the chances are low for top 10 programs. You can always apply and see what happens. Decisions are made on more than a GMAT score, so if you can submit a strong set of essays & recommendations, and interview well, then you might have a chance. I would encourage you to consider programs outside the top 5 where your GMAT score is closer to the average. There are many great schools out there, and I encourage you to visit our sticky on school selection for tips on identifying them.

Dear Lisa,

Thanks for your valuable reply & advise. I am thinking of retaking GMAT for the 3rd time in a month or two (at the most by June). Would like to know how can improve my verbal score as that is the area where I am falling behind. Also does my retaking GMAT for the 3rd time will in way impact my applications to the B Schools.

Darpan,

Taking the GMAT more than once (or even twice) will not negatively impact your applications. Since I am neither a GMAT instructor nor expert, I'm not sure the best approach you should take to improve your verbal score. You might peruse some of the other sections on the site for tips on taking the GMAT.

Insead & Nanyang 2010 Intake -GMat Score 610, workex 5 y

I have 5 yrs work ex in Hewlett Packard as a Busines Analyst and a GMAT score of 610.
How are my chances for Insead and Nanyang admission?
