Hi Lisa,

I am from China. I got the same "low GPA" problem. I got 2.6/4.0 in Shanghai International Studies University for my undergraduate degree because of lacking motivation and heavily involved in social activities. But I got 3.6/4.0 in Singapore Management University for my Master degree in Finance. In addition, I got 740 for GMAT.

I have 6 years of working experience. First 3 years for a fortune500 bank located in Singapore and now for a international investment company as equity analyst in Singapre. Plus I have been involved in voluntary service in Singapore.

I am pretty concerned about my low GPA for my undergraduate degree. Is there any chance for me to get admission to the top 20 MBA programme in the US? Thanks

Dear Thomas,

Yes, there is a possibility you would gain admission to a top 20 MBA program in the US with a strong, overall application package. You have a high GMAT score and evidence of academic aptitude in your master's program. If you can demonstrate a successful track record in your career and provide a solid rationale for going to business school in relation to your career goals, then your application will be that much stronger. While your undergraduate GPA might be below average, if the rest of your application is outstanding, then you should be in a competitive position.
