I am not sure how to do it without choosing numbers. But I have another question.
Are you sure the answer to the one below is correct. I think it should be E i.e. all I, II and III are possible.
I. is true if x=1, y=1/2 and z=1/4
II. is true if x=2 , y=(-1/3) , z=1/2
then x > z > y
and also x > y^2 > y^4
2 > 1/9 > 1/16
III. is possible if x=1/2, y=2/3 and z=3/4
Hence all 3 are possible. I dont know how is it possible to do this without choosing numbers.

Thanks for your explanation. The answer is E. It shows the answer I choose, which I obviosuly messed it up. It was taking more time then I thought while picking numbers, so I gave up on it. So seems like picking numbers is the only way to solve this question.
