For simplicity, choose x=-4/5
-x= 4/5
-1/x = 5/4
1-1/x = 1+5/4=9/4
1/(1+x) = 1/(1/5) = 5
So, greatest value is 1/(1+x) = 5

For 0<x,1, 1/x is a increases with with decreasing x. Since -1<x<-3/4, -1/x>1, but (1+x)<|x| = 1/(1+x)>-1/x
