If 4x - 12 > x + 9, which of the following must be true?
(A) x > 6 (B) x < 7 (C) x > 7 (D )x > 8 (E )x < 8

x => 7
Why (A) is the right answer (the question does not specify that x is an integer)? Although (A) is the only answer that can cover all the values from the original inequality, but if x=6.3 it does not satisfy the question.

Please, explain, how to follow GMAT logic here.

Was the original equation supposed to be 4x - 12 ≥ x + 9?

As it stands, both A and C are correct.

In any case, A is correct because if x > 7, then also x must be greater than 6.

That according to A, x could also be between 6 and 7 does not matter. The point is that A must be true, not that A defines x.
