Incumbent candidate for governor: As the people of our great state know, my administration has created unprecedented economic prosperity and job growth. Just look at the unemployment rate, which has reached its lowest point in nearly twenty years!

Opposing candidate for governor: That's preposterous. You overlook the fact that the unemployment rate is just as much a function of the number of people in the labor market as much as it is of the number of people employed. Your greatest contribution to the economy has been a series of retirement parties and moves to other states!

The opposing candidate's reply to the incumbent proceeds by:

A. Supplying a statistic that undermines the incumbent's conclusion.
B. Suggesting that the incumbent's statistic is factually inaccurate.
C. Offering a statistic that sheds additional light on the statistic supplied by the incumbent.
D. Claiming that the incumbent used a statistic irrelevant to his conclusion.
E. Pointing out that the incumbent cited a statistic that does not necessarily support his conclusion

OPTION A:- INCORRECT
The opposing candidate candidate reply didn't supply the statistics that undermines the incumbent;s conclusion. It only shed more light to the details of the statistics that the incumbent already stated.

OPTION B:- INCORRECT
The opposing candidate's reply points out the fact that the incumbent overlooked some facts in stating the statistics not that the statistics is factually inaccurate.

OPTION C:- INCORRECT
The option is quite closer to what the solution should be, but the opposing candidate didn't proceed on this fact. It proceeded on the fact that the statistics is completely preposterous which means that it is contrary to nature, reason or common sense, although it later shed some light on the statistics supplied by the incumbent.

OPTION D:- INCORRECT
This is incorrect because the statistics used by the incumbent is not completely irrelevant to his conclusion, the opposing candidate is only trying to resurface more reasons that could have lead to the low employment rate.

OPTION E:- CORRECT
The incumbent claimed to have created economic prosperity and job growth that has never been seen before, with a reference to the unemployment rate which ha reached its lowest point in nearly twenty years while the opposing candidate sees the claim to be preposterous and points out that the incumbents greatest achievement has been a series of retirement parties and moves to other states.
This clearly shows that the incumbent's statistics which is the rate of unemployment doesn't necessarily support his claim and might be as a result of the opposing candidate's claim.
