increasing congestion at airport X

by singh181 » Sat Apr 09, 2011 10:54 pm
In response to years of increasing congestion at airport X, the government decided to redistribute landing slots. Henceforth, all international flights arriving from continent A would be rerouted to nearby airport Y, all flights arriving from continent B would continue to land at airport X. Several airlines opposed this measure on the grounds that it would result in lost business.

Which of the following, if true, justifies the airline's conclusion?

(A) The airlines' customers prefer less congested airports.
(B) It takes five minutes more flying time to reach the second
airport.
(C) There are fewer runways, and thus less capacity, at airport Y.
(D) Airport Y is located in a region with better transport links to the
final destinations of many travelers from continent B.
(E) Many customers traveling between continent A and continent
B choose certain airlines because of the easy flight
connections they offer at airport X.

I chose C, because government assumes that Continent A and B are sending same number of flights and Airport X and Y are similar. If Y is smaller than X, then we congestion problem at Y, whereas A Weakens because now airport X and Y are less congested. OA A

I liked this very much.. Now I am taking banglore old airport and new airport(distance one called devanhalli port) and I am standing in shoes of vijay mallya(rich airline owner)...

Opinion: People travel from A to B... Now A'guys land at old airport and I have to provide bus transport to new airport to catch flight to B... my bus transport is unneccessary..

IMO E
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..

What is the source of the problem?

IMO E. A is perhaps the last one I would choose to explain. Could you please post OE?

A is the answer not E as you guys have mentioned.

A is the only logical one.

B and C are out of scope and D does nothing to the problem leaving choices A and E.

How does one justify the conclusion of splitting up the arrivals to two airports?
A) if the customers prefer less congested airports. There we go!

E is a weakener, not a strengthener. If the customers have easier accessibility at Airport X, and the case now is that if they come from continent A, they will NOT arrive at airport X but airport Y. These customers DO NOT want to go to airport Y, hence, a weakener.
