In the quiet town of "Nothintodo", there are 600 inhabitants, 400 are unemployed and 300 are somnambulists. If half of the somnambulists are unemployed, how many are employed and are not somnambulists?

A. 50
B. 100
C. 150
D. 200
E. 300

The OA is A.

Total = 600
unemployed=400
employed=600-400=200
som=300

unemployed som = 300/2=150
employed som = 150
employed that are not som = 200-150=50. Option A.

Has anyone another strategic approach to solve this PS question? Regards!

Since 400 of the 600 inhabitants are unemployed, 200 are employed.

Since 300 are somnambulists, 300 are not somnambulists.

We also know that 150 of the somnambulists are unemployed so 150 must be employed.

Thus, 200 - 150 = 50 are not somnambulists and employed.
