A. INCORRECT: it is passive. Also modifies merchants...the merchants weren't located between Europe & Asia; the movement of good was.

B. INCORRECT: the word 'through' should be used while referring to a passage medium. Also, this option contains the word 'among' which is incorrect for 2 continents

C. INCORRECT: the transmission of goods didn't take place in Libya. Libya was only a conduit

D. INCORRECT: the country Libya didn't do the transmitting. Also uses 'among'

E. CORRECT

I dont agree than 'between 'word' is modifying merchants...

There is preposition 'OF' in between goods and merchants

In this case it will refer to goods.

I am unable to agree with you on this. Is this a general rule?

Reliance Industries traded goods between India and America. - Active
Goods were traded by Reliance Industries between India and America - Passive

I think both the statements are grammatically right. One is active, other is apssive.

I think A is wrong because GMAT prefers active voice and in A use of idiom is wrong

Don't you people think that except A, ever choice is unnecessary changing the meaning of the sentence.

Saying :

goods by merchant
is not same
merchats' goods [ goods of merchants ]
