In experiments in which certain kinds of bacteria were placed in a generous supply of nutrients, the populations of bacteria grew rapidly, and genetic mutations occurred at random in the populations. These experiments show that all genetic mutation is random.

Which one of the following, if true, enables the conclusion to be properly drawn?

(A) Either all genetic mutations are random or none are random.

(B) The bacteria tested in the experiments were of extremely common forms.

(C) If all genetic mutations in bacteria are random, then all genetic mutations in every other life form arc random also.

In Option A - INCORRECT
This statement has been unable to justify its point as all genetics mutations picked at random or not at random, because an experiment was taken.

In Option B - CORRECT.
Here, in this statement it is true that the bacteria's tested were of common forms and a generous supply of nutrients fit for them were given and this lead to the rapid growth that occurred, that is why a genetic mutation occurred at random.

In Option C - INCORRECT.
Genetic mutations in the kind of bacterial experimented here is at random because they are of same species and feed on same nutrient, this does not mean that every other genetic mutation should be at random check too. However, the conclusion drawn here has contradicted the discussion.

In Option D - INCORRECT.
However, this statement can not be justified because environment has always been a factor to be considered when experimenting on bacteria.

In Option E - INCORRECT.
This statement sounds true but lacks evidence, because it wasn't stated in the question that, the nutrients used were the same as those that nourish the bacteria in nature.
