The question is unanswerable if some people could be ambidextrous.

Assuming everyone is either left or right-handed, we know that among women, the ratio of left to right-handed people is 3 to 1. So if 12 women are right-handed, 36 are left-handed, and there are 48 women in total. There are thus 52 men.

Since 75% of the women are left-handed, the 12 right-handed women constitute 25% of the women. Letting w = the total number of women, we can create the equation:

0.25w = 12

w = 48, so the number of men is 52.

Answer: B
