This sentence compares the behavioral patterns of solving more challenging tool related problems by the Great Ape family than the Monkeys that are outside the Great Ape family.

Option A - incorrect
This option incorrectly uses 'as' to make a comparison. The more appropriate word to use in this context is 'than' immediately after 'more.'

Option B - incorrect
This is similar to option A because the use of 'as' to make a comparison is incorrect.

Option C - correct
Here, the appropriate adjective 'than' is used for comparison.

Option D - incorrect
The answer choice uses the verb 'had been' which is wrong. The event is not supposed to be distinguished based on any timeline. Instead, it is meant to distinguish between the two groups of Monkeys.

Option E - incorrect
'than had' used in this sentence makes it look inappropriate.
