. In a certain senior class, 72% of the male students and 80% of female students have applied to college. What fraction of the students in the senior class are male?
(1) There are 840 students in the senior class
(2) 75% of the students in the senior class have applied to college.

We need to find m / (m+f). Given Students applied to college are : - .72*m + .80*f

Statement 1) m+f = 840 .. Not Sufficient!!!

Statement 2) .72*m + .80*f = .75*(m+f) which gives 5*f = 3*m, We can find m / (m+f) = 5/8 Sufficient!!!
