There is no such quantifiable solution to improve from 26 to 44. (I learned it the hard way)
If you are getting a max of 10-12 incorrect, your score must be better than 26. am just saying this, there is no such rule.

What you can improve is consistency. Did you try CR Bible? That book is really useful if you can put it to good use. Learn it and practice the lessons every time you work on CR. I learned everything the book had to offer but I waned away and forgot the lessons I learnt. (My final Verbal score is 38.)

RC: Well, I have seen many ppl recommend that you start reading tough passages in the newspaper and try writing out summaries. Over time, you probably will learn to stop missing impt points in the passage and will eventually help your RC skills. Just a suggestion again. I am no expert to recommend anythin.

I agree with Vineeshp on certain points. First if you are getting 10-12 questions wrong, chances that you will get 26 are very less. I normally get 10-11 questions wrong on verbal sections, and my average verbal score is 37-39.

Regarding SC section - Can not recommend as I am also working on it. (My own accuracy - 60-75%).
Regarding CR section - I believe nothing can beat power score bible. I improved my accuracy from 60% to 90-95%. (My accuracy - very high, this is my best section ).
Regarding RC section - I think RC will improve with practice. Make some general strategy and learn to implement it. (My own accuracy - varying from 70 - 100%)

I scored 670 on my first attempt of GMAT around 2 years ago. I have been working on my weak areas from last 2 months and have been scoring 720+ in most of the practice tests.

I have only one simple strategy - get my self familiar with every type of question (as GMAT has only few types), and make sure I have a framework to solve every question.

I have found that MasterGMAT is very very good.
