47 thingamajigs cost $1_8._7. Then what does each thingamajig cost, where numbers at "_" are not visible or are written in illegible hand?
(A) $2.31
(B) $2.44
(C) $3.21
(D) $3.23
(E) $3.51

The last digit of total cost is 7; since 47*Price = $1_8._7

The last digit of the price should be 1 or 3 (B is Ruled out)

Now plugging the answers back 2.31*47 = 108.57

So - A

Couldn't think of anything better

Hi, Since the last digit of the amount is 7 and the number of things is 47, using number properties..Last digit has to be 1.

7*1=7
7*7=.9
7^3=..3
7^4=...1
7^5=...7

Now A,C and E are the contenders.. Started with A, 47*2.31 = 108.37

However I think there is more that can be narrowed down...how to choose between $2 and $3??

This question is weird as there are 2 possible answers. So question has definitely missed some more piece of information.


A and C could be the answers .

A = 2.31 * 47 = 108.57--->satisfies the condition given

C = 3.21 * 37 = 118.77--->satisfies the condition given.

You cant have 2 correct answers .

Thus this question either misses some information or the answer choices are not transcribed properly or ELSE something is really illegible to me here :-)

Yes "47 thingamajigs cost $1_8._7."..Did'nt see this '47'..seems "illegible" really got over on me :lol:
