If x and y are consecutive even integers, what is the value of xy?

$$(1)\ \ x+y=98$$
$$(2)\ \ y-x=2$$

The OA is A.

I need help to solve this DS question. Please, can any expert assist me with it? Thanks.

Since x and y are consecutive even integers, y + x = 2.
$$(1)\ \ x+y=98$$
$$x+x+2=98$$

=> x = 48 and y = 50. Thus xy = 48.50 = 2400. Sufficient.

$$(2)\ \ y-x=2$$
$$y=x+2$$

We already know this. Insufficient.

The correct answer: A
