If the sum of 5, 8, 12, and 15 is equal to the sum of 3, 4, x, and x+3, what is the value of x?

A. 14
B. 15
C. 16
D. 17
E. 18

OA B

Given: 5 + 8 + 12 + 15 = 3 + 4 + x + (x+3)
Simplify: 40 = 2x + 10
Subtract 10 from both sides: 30 = 2x
Divide both sides by 2: 15 = x

Answer: B
