Hello Everyone,

Please tell me how to solve such a problem :

Q) Sam sells Product X for 15000 dollar and Jack sells product Y for 27000 dollar and both of them sell product Z for 36000 dollar. What is Jack's share in product Z ?

a) 15140
b) 21199
c) 23142
d) 25450
e) 27800

OR if you are unable to understand then -
Sam sells Salt for $15000 and Jack sells Water for $27000 and both of them sell Salt Water (combination of salt & water) for $36000. What is Jack's share in salt water ?

e) 27800

This is a classical Ratio/Proportion question.

Product Y's share in product Z will be given by "(Rate of Z)*[(Rate of Y)/(Rate of X + Rate of Y)]."

Product Y's share in product Z = 36,000*[27000/(15000 + 27000)] = 36,000*(27/42) = $23,142

The correct answer: C
