If k is an integer and k = 462/n, then which of the following could be the value of n?

A 4
B 5
C 9
D 13
E 22

To solve, we need to find all the factors of 462, which are 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 11, 14, 21, 22, 33, 42, 66, 77, 154, 231, 462.

Since 22 is a factor then it is our answer, which is E.

Solution:

First, we factor 462. Then, n can be any value such that it evenly divides any of the factors of 462.

462 = 2 x 231 = 2 x 3 x 77 = 2 x 3 x 7 x 11

Thus, n could be 22.
