This is how I solved.

Calculate in reverse.
Statement 1:

Exactly 60 hours before the appointment, it was Monday.

So let's say the 60th hour was 2300 hours on Monday and add 59 hours to it you will notice
1 hour on mon + 24 hours on tues + 24 hours on wed + 11 hours on Thursday will be the appointment

But if you calculate from 1 am on Monday then we have 23 hours on Monday + 24 on Tuesday + 13 on Wednesday: So it could be Wed too.

since no clear ans rule out option 1

Option 2 (2) The appointment was between 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm does not give any information to conclude meeting was on Wednesday

So Option a, b and D ruled out

Together we know appointment was between 1 and 9 pm and 60 hours before meeting was Monday.

TEst answers with both options eg: if meeting was 9 pm on Wednesday will it still be Monday ie 60 hours before; ans is yes
If meeting was at 1 pm it will still be Monday so together sufficient. Ans = C.

Let's take each statement one by one.

(1) Exactly 60 hours before the appointment, it was Monday.

60 hours means 2.5 days.

Case 1: Say 60 hours before the appointment is Monday 12:00 am (End of Sunday and Start of Monday)

Thus, Monday 12:00 am + 2.5 days = Wednesday 12:00 pm (Wednesday afternoon). The answer is Yes.

Case 2: Say 60 hours before the appointment is Monday 11:59 pm (End of Monday and Start of Tuesday)

Thus, Monday 11:59 pm + 2.5 days = Thursday 12:00 pm (Thursday afternoon). The answer is No.

No unique answer.

(2) The appointment was between 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

Certainly insufficient. We do not do the day.

(1) and (2) together

Assuming that the times 1:00 pm and 9:00 pm belong to Wednesday. If yes, then 2.5 days before these two times must be Monday.

Case 1: Wednesday 1:00 pm - 2.5 days = Monday 1:00 am.
Case 2: Wednesday 9:00 pm - 2.5 days = Monday 9:00 am.

Thus, our assumption is correct. The answer is Yes. Sufficient.

The correct answer: C
