If Company M ordered a total of 50 computers and printers and Company N ordered a total of 60 computers and printers, how many printers did company M order?

1) Company M and Company N ordered the same number of computers
2) Company N ordered 10 more printers than Company M

The OA is E

Say Company M ordered C computers and P printers, so we have C + P = 50, and Company N ordered c computers and p printers, so we have c + p = 60. We have to get the value of P.

Let's take each statement one by one.

1) Company M and Company N ordered the same number of computers.

C = c. Insuffcient.

2) Company N ordered 10 more printers than Company M.

p – P = 10. Insuffcient.

(1) and (2) together

So, we have C + P = 50 and c + p = 60. Subtracting (1) from (2), we get

=> (C – c) + (P – p) = –10
(P – p) = –10 => (p – P) = 10. This is the same equation that we got in (2). Insuffciient.

The correct answer: E
